How to Add Holidays to Mac Calendar

Adding holidays to your Mac calendar can help you stay organized and informed about important dates. Whether you want to mark national holidays, religious celebrations, or personal events, following these simple steps will ensure that your calendar is always up-to-date with the dates you care about.

Step 1: Open the Calendar App

First, open the Calendar app on your Mac. You can find it in the Applications folder or by searching for it in Spotlight. Once the app is open, you’ll see your current calendar view, which may include daily, weekly, or monthly views.

Step 2: Select the Calendar You Want to Edit

In the sidebar on the left, you’ll see a list of calendars. If you have multiple calendars, such as work, personal, or shared calendars, select the one you want to add holidays to. If you want to add holidays to all calendars, simply skip this step.

Step 3: Go to the Calendar Preferences

Click on the gear icon at the bottom left of the window to open the Calendar preferences. This will allow you to customize various settings for your calendar.

Step 4: Add a New Calendar

In the Calendar preferences, click on the “Add” button at the bottom of the window. Select “Other” from the list of options, and then choose “Subscribe to Calendar” from the subsequent menu.

Step 5: Enter the Holiday Calendar URL

In the URL field, enter the following URL: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/en.us%23holiday%40group.v.calendar.google.com/public/basic. This URL is for the U.S. holidays calendar, but you can find URLs for other countries or specific holidays by searching online.

Step 6: Subscribe to the Calendar

Click the “Subscribe” button, and the holiday calendar will be added to your Mac Calendar. You’ll see a new calendar in your sidebar with the name “U.S. Holidays” (or the name you gave it).

Step 7: Customize the Calendar

If you want to customize the appearance of the holiday calendar, you can click on the calendar name in the sidebar and select “Edit Calendar.” Here, you can change the calendar’s color, name, and other settings.

Step 8: Enjoy Your Updated Calendar

Now that you’ve added holidays to your Mac calendar, you can easily view important dates and plan your events accordingly. Remember to check your calendar regularly for updates and to remove any outdated information.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your Mac calendar is always equipped with the holidays you need to know about. Happy planning!
